Well, here we are! Another season of racing starts this week! Just like the winter series, Road Atlanta will be the first track the Skip Barber Series visits for the 2015 Summer Series.
The field for this season is stacked! Some of the most competitive racers I've met will be running the full season. Timo Reger, Jeff Stern, and Neil Verhagen will be drivers I need to watch out for this season. However, there will be some aggressive rookies joining us. Dakota Dickerson and Daniel De La Calle are two of the fastest go-karters in the country, while Chase Owen, Ben Waddell and Dave Pourcelli are the victors of the Indycar Academy Shootout. Needless to say, it will be anyone's game at the first round of the season!
Road Atlanta is one of the more challenging tracks we go to on the calendar. What makes it so difficult is the amount of elevation changes throughout the circuit. There are blind corners, flat-out downhill corners, and banked corners. On top of that, this track has a lot of risks. Make one mistake and you'll be in the wall forsure.
Something interesting about Road Atlanta is the fact that it holds the Petit Le Mans. The Petit Le Mans is an endurance sports car race that is very famous in North America. Drivers from all over the world compete in Ferraris, Porsches, Aston Martins, and more! It is very exciting to be racing on a track that is so prestigious.
This will be my second visit to the track - I got my first career podium in my first ever start here in November 2014! When I return to the track, my goal is to return to the podium and hopefully win. Road Atlanta is important because it is the first race of the season. It should be an exciting race weekend!
Stay tuned for updates!
