Round 9 of the championship was one of my favorite races of the season. This is because I had one of the craziest starts of my career. I started the race in 9th and by the end of lap 1 I was able to jump up to 2nd. After a few laps passed, I was able to make a move on the outside line of Turn 3 to grab the lead. From there it was a chess match of overtaking lapped cars. I could see in my mirrors that everytime a lapped car held me up, the driver in 2nd would gain ground on me. Luckily, I was able to fend him off and come to the checkers with my 5th career win! It was an absolutely awesome race! Click the video above to see the whole thing!
Round 10 of the championship was a race of attrition. I started the race in 5th and stayed in 6th for most of the race. However, luck was on my side because I was able to keep my car running and not get shut down by mechanical issues. I was able to pick up a spot to move me into the 5th place position late in the race. This was because another racer had to pull of the track because of an issue with his brakes. On the last lap, I was running in 5th until another car spun off the track possibly due to oil being put down on the track by the leader. This then moved me up a position and I was able to finish the race with a 4th.
Originally, I was suppose to race Round 9 on Saturday. However, due to this crash I competed twice on Sunday. The crash was caused by brake failure. I was heading into Turn 2 when I heard a "pop" coming from the rear of the car. Then, I couldn't slow the car down and I went into the Turn 2 wall. These cars are super safe and I was only injured in my thumb. It's a really minor injury considering this could have been much worse than what it was. I have been cleared by my doctors to race in the next round.
I was truly happy with this weekend. What a season we're having! This weekend's results moves me up to 4th in the standings. I'm really happy with the progression I've had this season and to add another win to the season is simply awesome! Can't wait to race again soon!
